Sakamoto Ryoma Remembrance Day Memorial Hall

This memorial museum was built to commemorate Sakamoto Ryoma, a young samurai who risked his life for the birth of modern Japan in 1862. Ozu became the first step in his quest to change the Japanese political regime. Exhibits explain why and how Ryoma escaped his Tosa domain (neighbouring to Ozu). On the second floor, there are photos and videos of the various mountain passes and valleys in the Kawabe area that Ryoma is said to have passed through, allowing you to trace the route Ryoma took to escape from his feudal domain.
