Nagahama Bridge

Among the movable bridges built in modern times in Japan, there are only three bridges in Japan that are still movable and are cultural properties, and Nagahama Bridge is the oldest movable road bridge in operation. The Nagahama Bridge was completed in 1935, and at the time of its construction, it was opened and closed every time a ship passed, as the means of transportation by ship was important. Currently, it is opened and closed only for inspection and sightseeing. In addition, the bridge was painted dark gray when it was first completed, but after the war it was painted red.Akahashi” and is affectionately called. In 2014, it was designated as a nationally designated important cultural property and is preserved as a heritage of industrial modernization.
