Rinhokaku is one of the buildings belonging to the Niiya domain (branch of the Ozu feudal domain).Built in 1868 (final year of Edo period), and is thought to have served as an evaluation center and audience hall. After the abolition of the feudal domain and the establishment of prefectures, it was temporarily used as the Niiya Prefectural Office, and from 1872 as the school building for Reikyo Elementary School (currently Niiya Elementary School). A one story structure covered by a gabled roof on tiles. The interior displays of a highly prestigious 'Ichi-no-ma' room, with an attached shoin, and four 'Nexi-no-ma' rooms. There is a 1 tatami-wide hallway surrounding the area. It is a sober but elegant building, dotted with a magnificent structure and adequately serving its educational purposes. A valuable assets that has been happily preserved for the satisfaction on locals.
