The second day of the trip begins in Ozu, surrounded by morning mist. When I left my luggage at the inn and went out, my steps became lighter. A bicycle would be a perfect companion for a carefree solo traveler. Rent a bicycle at Asamoya, the town station, and ride through the morning scenery while enjoying the refreshing breeze.
About Asamoya
"Asamoya" is a town station located in the center of Ozu. There will be product sales and demonstration sales, and you can buy souvenirs. The piping hot Jakokatsu, which is fried to order, is a masterpiece. One of the essential facilities for a trip to Ozu.

Nyohoji Temple is an imposing Nyoho Temple founded by Yasuoki Kato, the second lord of Ozu domain. Wearing Samue, we perform zazen meditation and tea ceremony in a quiet place not found in the city. This time of self-reflection may be a true rest.

As you walk up the approach, you will see Sankago-den, which was built using Kake-zukuri, an architectural style unique to Japan. Numerous pillars are lined up along the slope of the mountain, and tower over the cliff. By admiring every nook and cranny of its structure, you can get a glimpse of its history.

The final chapter of the trip is to Nagahama, where the sea breeze blows. After about 20 minutes on the train from Ozu Station, we arrived at Nagahama Station, where the smell of the sea was soothing. We recommend taking a walk around the many cultural properties, including the industrial heritage site Nagahama Bridge, and having lunch with seafood caught at Nagahama Port, such as the local specialty, tiger blowfish and hamo.
On the way home
A solo trip that allows you to reconsider yourself while tracing the beautiful yet fleeting history of time. Two days spent in the gentle and peaceful Ozu, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Everything I encountered during my free and carefree travels, unfettered by anything, is burned into my memory.
