Rinhokaku

Rinhokaku is one of the buildings that existed within the Shintani domain's camp. It was built in 1868 at the end of the Edo period, and is thought to have served as an evaluation center and audience hall. After the abolition of the feudal domain and the establishment of prefectures, it was temporarily used as the Shintani Prefectural Office, and from 1872 as the school building for Reikyo Elementary School (currently Shintani Elementary School). The structure of the building is a one-story wooden building with a gabled roof and a tiled roof. The interior consists of a highly prestigious ``Ichi-no-ma'' with an attached shoin, and four ``Nexi-no-ma'' rooms. There is a 1-ken-wide tatami-matted hallway surrounding the area. Although there are few details on the building, it is an elegant and magnificent structure, and is valuable as the only building remaining on the site of the Jinya.
